The following items were taken from police reports:
•A homeowner in the 100 block of East Maple Street was apparently victimized twice by people hired through Craigslist to help her pack and load household items. After hiring help on June 11, she reported a brass candlestick worth $250 was missing. On June 14, she reported a shotgun was stolen by a different suspect, allegedly a 52-year-old Lombard man with a previous felony conviction, also hired through Craigslist. Police recovered the shotgun from that suspect's home, charged him with unlawful use of a weapon and took him to the DuPage County Jail.
•A pair of Gucci sunglasses worth $300 was stolen June 13 from an optical shop in the 0-100 block of Village Place after one suspect distracted a clerk while another stole the glasses. Neither suspect has been identified.
•An unknown suspect drove off without paying for $68 worth of gas from a station in the 0-100 block of West Chicago Avenue June 13.
•A resident in the 400 block of East Court reported June 18 that someone broke into his white Ford Econoline van while it was parked in his driveway and stole tools worth $1,700.
•A 33-year-old Bensenville man was cited for public intoxication after police responded to a report of a man lying on the sidewalk in front of the police station at 125 East First Street. Police also found an open can of Icehouse beer, along with a 12-pack of the brew.
•A 30-year-old Villa Park man was charged with obstructing identification and unlawful solicitation of contributions June 17 after he was found standing in the roadway at Illinois Route 83 and St. Charles Road with a sign reading "Homeless. Will work for food. Anything is appreciated. God Bless." He was found to be the subject of three outstanding warrants and was taken to DuPage County Jail.
•Police charged a 38-year-old Elmhurst man with possession of open alcohol in public June 17 after a patrolling officer noticed him with a brown paper bag with a can in it in the 600 block of North York Street. The officer determined the container was an open can of beer.
•Police responding to a call about a suspicious person at a park building in the 200 block of East Crestview Avenue the night of June 17 found a 37-year-old Wheaton man standing near the building urinating. He and a 19-year-old Elmhurst woman sitting on the steps of the building were found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia.
•Four juveniles fled a house in the 400 block of West Second Street as police arrived to investigate a report of prowlers the night of June 16. All four were taken into custody and charged with prowling. One of the four, a 16-year-old boy, had a glass pipe for smoking cannabis and he was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.
