I picked Stanford outright to beat Oregon. I swear. I did this Tuesday on the BTN show "Big Ten Football and Beyond."
Unfortunately, I also flubbed last week's Michigan-Michigan State pick. I said there was absolutely no reason to pick Michigan, which has a crummy offensive line and succeeds on the road as often as a deer in rush-hour traffic. And then, somehow, I picked Michigan.
On to a new week:
Penn State (plus 2) at Minnesota: I could not figure out why the Gophers were 8-point underdogs at Indiana last week. Turns out they shouldn't have been. And they're still not getting enough respect. Minnesota.
Iowa (minus 14 1/2) at Purdue: The Boilermakers have scored one touchdown since the calendar flipped to October. Iowa.
Illinois (plus 9 1/2) at Indiana: The "winner" improves its chances of playing in the Little Caesars Pizza Bowl in Detroit. Yes, winner in quotes. Illinois.
Nebraska (plus 6 1/2) at Michigan: Bo Pelini's Twitter alter ego, @FauxPelini, asks: "@GovChristie Congrats on your reelection but does that mean you won't be coaching Michigan on Saturday?" Nebraska.
BYU (plus 7 1/2) at Wisconsin: What's next for former Utah State coach Gary Andersen — dates with Weber State and Salt Lake Community College? Wisconsin.
LSU (plus 12 1/2) at Alabama: Simple analysis — too many points to lay. LSU.
Best bet: Minnesota.
Last week: 5-2. Season: 40-43.
Best bets: 5-5.
