Edgy's recruiting notes | Treadwell's decision coming soon

Crete-Monee senior receiver Laquon Treadwell, who took part in the Under Armour All-American Bowl last weekend, is still calling Ole Miss his favorite. But he will take what appears to be his final official visit to Oklahoma State this weekend.

Treadwell also visited Oklahoma, which rounds out his top three.

Treadwell was Birmingham, Ala., Saturday with the nation's top defensive end, Robert Nkemdiche, for Ole Miss' 38-17 victory against Pittsburgh in the Compass Bowl.

"I'm planning to make my decision after Jan. 11," Treadwell said.

Kolbe gets offer from Toledo: Naperville Central junior quarterback Jake Kolbe added his first scholarship offer last week from Toledo.

"I know that Toledo has been a really good program for years and that they are always in bowl games and in the hunt for a MAC championship," Kolbe said. "I've heard a lot of good things about the coaches and the football program. I'm just really happy and excited to pick up an offer this early. You always hope to be able to be one of those guys picking up early offers, and hopefully more schools will take a look at me this fall."

Illinois offers Bunting: Hinsdale Central junior tight end Ian Bunting received an offer from Illinois on Saturday after an unofficial visit to Champaign. Bunting also has offers from Purdue and Vanderbilt.

"It's huge to get an offer from the Illini," Bunting said. "I was really excited when coach (Tim Beckman) pulled me aside on Saturday and said they wanted to offer me."

Extra point: Harlan senior offensive guard Ki-Jana Evans orally committed to Southern Illinois.
