Dave, sorry I didn't get back to you sooner -- before Byron Dafoe signed with Atlanta. Obviously the Hawks don't think Passmore is the answer, which is why they sent him down to Norfolk. I think the Hawks will try to get by with Andersson and Leighton -- maybe rotating them up and down, and see how that works.
R. Cary, two years ago the kids that the Hawks were touting weren't even in North America yet, or in the case of Tuomo Ruttu, signed. Now Mikhail Yakubov and Igor Radulov are playing in Norfolk and should be in Chicago next season -- if not sooner. Ruttu, on the other hand, remains unsigned and neither side appears eager to budge. Plus, I think the Hawks thought they were going to get more out of their veterans than they have thus far.
Bob, here are my lines when (if) healthy (C/LW/RW): Zhamnov, Berezin, Sullivan; Nikolishin, Daze, Fluery; ABC line; Korolev, Simon, Thomas. What do you think? --Randy Stampone, Oakhurst, NJ
Randy, not bad, although I think Daze and Sullivan play well together and I kind of like Berezin with Arnason. I would put Bell on the fourth line with the message that if he doesn't get it going, he'll be on the top line in Norfolk with Radulov coming up. I'd also rather see Yakubov as the fourth-line center, but that's just me.
Bob, have the Chicago beat writers suggested Steve Larmer for the Hockey Hall of Fame and do you think he'll go in? Thanks, Arctic Circle Ed! --Ed Picco, Iqaluit, Nunavut
Ed, I personally haven't, but it has been written. I think a good case can be made for Larmer to be inducted. He never missed a game in his NHL career due to injury and was a productive player every year he played. He wasn't the brightest star every night, but he was usually among them.
I am 8 years old, and I play Silver Mite hockey. I want to know why hockey teams do not put their team name on the jerseys. Thank you. --Joey Olivere, Naperville, Ill.
Joey, OK, you got me on that one. I honestly don't know why. I think the Rangers are the only team that has their name on their jersey. Maybe it's because teams invest a lot of many having a logo designed and they want to show it off.
