The outrage is official. Ex-Chicago police Cmdr. Jon Burge gets to keep drawing money from the taxpayers.
Since March 2011, those taxpayers have been paying Burge's $3,000-a-month pension while he sits in prison. They'll be paying it when he's released next year, and they'll be paying it for the rest of his life, and there's nothing anyone can do about it.
The Illinois Supreme Court ruled Thursday that Attorney General Lisa Madigan could not intervene to challenge a police pension board's egregious decision to keep Burge's retirement checks flowing.
