Attorney general announces another Baltimore street crime indictment

For the second time in two months, the office of the Maryland attorney general has announced an indictment targeting street crime in Baltimore — territory the state's top prosecutors rarely pursue.

Attorney General Brian E. Frosh said prosecutors had obtained a grand jury indictment of 26 individuals who they say were part of five drug organizations conspiring to distribute heroin and cocaine in Northwest Baltimore.

Prosecutors said some of the members were using juveniles to make sales and were selling drugs near neighborhood elementary schools. They said the months-long investigation included undercover city officers making controlled purchases.
