Baltimore County shouldn't overstep on immigration

The proposed Baltimore County bill to force jail officials to screen for undocumented immigrants should be withdrawn, defeated or vetoed ("Baltimore County Council to consider jail immigration screening," May 1). In the past, the federal "detainer" program has not focused on serious criminals, has harmed the relationship between police and local communities and has been costly for localities.
