Baltimore County police on Friday charged a 17-year-old Perry Hall High School student as an adult after he brought a loaded handgun to school.
Police said Christopher James Engles brought his grandfather's gun to school Thursday. A student reported it to a school resource officer, who confiscated the gun and arrested Engles without incident.
Police said Engles did not threaten or point the gun at anyone, and do not believe he intended to harm anyone.
Engles has been charged with possession of a firearm by a minor, possession of a dangerous weapon on school property, carrying/concealing a dangerous weapon, and wearing/carrying a handgun.
