This photo shows what I made with an unadvertised Jewel-Osco sale item and a sweet coupon deal today: Frugalista's Cheapo Summer Cooler. To make, pick up a 1/2 gallon of Oberweiss lemonade, on sale through May 22 for $1.50 (plus bottle deposit), and pour into a pitcher along with brewed iced tea (already in my pantry). To garnish, find a wine tag coupon for $2 off lemons when you buy some kind of alcohol, remember that Jewel does not require the alcohol purchase with such coupons, and use it to get six lemons free (they're on an unadvertised sale for 33 cents apiece this week). Total cost of a large pitcher of Frugalista's Cheapo Summer Cooler: $1.50 plus whatever two teabags cost me back whenever I bought them.

Here are the top deals to be found at Chicago Jewel-Osco grocery stores for the week of May 12, with coupon matchups. I don't list every item from the Wednesday grocery ad, only those that are close to their low prices or those that have a good coupon available. My favorite deal this week is free Propel Fitness Water or Fuze after coupons, with the $5 instant savings deal (scroll to the bottom of the post to see it). Other

Jewel-Osco has a manufacturer's coupon in the ad for $ off a Hershey's chocolate bar 6-pack. Expires 5/18. The ad also advertises 16 oz. Planter's peanuts for $1.99, a deal I didn't notice in the regular Wednesday ad.
