Rescue crews searched a small retention pond near Gilberts in northern Kane County this evening, after a report of someone trapped in the water, but found nothing, a fire official said.
At least seven different fire departments dispatched crews to the retention pond at the northeast corner of Burnidge Forest Preserve, south of Big Timber Road near Gilberts, after the call came in about 6:15 p.m.
When crews arrived they found no one, but did note a patch of murky water that led them to call in dive teams, Thomas said.
Crews wrapped up their search about 8 p.m., Thomas said Thursday morning.
