A man handed a note to a bank teller today demanding $20,000 but he fled after the teller declined to give him any money.
The unsuccessful bank robbery occurred about 1:45 p.m. at the Chicago Community Bank at 1110 W. 35th St., in the Bridgeport neighborhood, according to FBI spokeswoman Joan Hyde.
The man, who appeared to be about 45, was not in custody as of 6:15 p.m., according to Purkiss.
