Tonight's top shows: Aimee Mann and the dB's

Aimee Mann: The singer’s out with her first album (“Charmer”) since 2008 and eighth overall in a career notable for its attention to craftsmanlike detail and haunting imagery. What’s more, she’ll be touring with the always ready-to-rock Ted Leo, 8 p.m. Thursday at the Park West, 322 W. Armitage Av., $35; jamusa.com.

The dB’s: Chris Stamey, Peter Holsapple, Gene Holder and Will Rigby defined power pop in the early ‘80s before parting ways. Now they’re back with “Falling Off the Sky,” their first album of new material in decades, and a reaffirmation of their melodic inventiveness and songwriting smarts, 9 p.m. Thursday and 10 p.m. Friday at the Hideout, 1354 W. Wabansia, $18 and $20; hideoutchicago.com.
