Ten people were slightly injured this afternoon when a CTA bus was involved in an accident on the South Side, officials said.

The accident happened at the intersection of 120th Street and South Michigan Avenue at about 4:20 p.m., according to Chicago Fire Department officials.

Preliminary information indicated that the accident occurred when a car went through a stop sign and rear-ended the No. 34 Michigan Avenue bus, according to CTA spokeswoman Lambrini Lukidis.

Officials called for an Emergency Medical Services response which called for multiple ambulances to respond to the scene.

While a total of 10 people were injured, five refused treatment and the other five were taken to several hospitals including Metro South Medical Center, Advocate Trinity Hospital and Roseland Community Hospital. The injured included the bus driver, CTA officials said.

They were in good condition, officials said.
