The Sky will meet defending champion Indiana in the first round of the WNBA playoffs.
The opener of the best-of-three conference semifinal series will be Friday night at 6 p.m. at Allstate Arena, with game two Sunday in Indianapolis and game three, if necessary, back in Rosemont Tuesday.
This is the Sky’s first playoff appearance in the franchise’s history.
The Fever (16-18), beleaguered by injuries all season, fell to fourth in the Eastern Conference because of Sunday’s overtime loss at last-place Connecticut. Indiana was minus three starters: Tamika Catchings (back), Briann January and Shavonte Zellous (family funeral).
Catchings, who played on Stevenson’s state title team as a sophomore before moving with her mother to Texas, was the MVP of last year’s WNBA finals.
Although the Sky won the East with a 24-10 record, they were just 1-3 against the Fever, losing the final three meetings.
The Fever made the playoffs for the ninth straight year thanks to their defense, which led the league in points allowed.
Washington, which moved into third place Sunday, meets Atlanta in the East semis.
Should they make best-of-three conference finals, the Sky also would have home court advantage.
In the West, No. 1 Minnesota plays No. 4 Seattle, with No. 2 Los Angeles against No. 3 Phoenix.
