Indiana's Frank Vogel will coach the Eastern Conference's All-Star team next month, the NBA announced Tuesday night.
The Pacers defeated the Sacramento Kings 116-92 Tuesday, moving their record to 30-7, tops in the conference. The All-Star coaching jobs go to the teams that lead their conferences as Feb. 2, with the exception that a coach can't guide the same conference in back-to-back years.
Indiana holds a three-game lead on the Heat, but Miami's Erik Spoelstra coached the East All-Stars last season. The Toronto Raptors and Atlanta Hawks are tied for third in the Eastern Conference, 10 1/2 games back, so they will not be able to catch the Pacers by Feb. 2.
Vogel has a 141-81 record in four seasons as Indiana's coach.
The All-Star Game will be played Feb. 16 at New Orleans Arena.
