An Algonquin man died this afternoon after the car he was driving struck a parked construction vehicle on Interstate 90 near Schaumburg, officials said.
Crews were doing road work in the area and the construction vehicle was parked with its emergency lights on, police said.
The man, who was wearing a seatbelt, was seriously injured and taken to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, where he died.
The man was identified as Raymond Ragalado, 40, of the 1000 block of Grayhawk Drive, according to a spokesman for the Cook County medical examiner's office. He was pronounced dead at 12:18 p.m. at the hospital.
Officials have not determined what made Ragalado veer to the left of the road, and the cause of the accident was still under investigation, police said.
