I thought it was just me and my husband. But after having several conversations with taxi drivers from Rogers Park and the Near West Side and driving a colleague home from work in West Town, I realized I wasn’t crazy. This town has not been plowed!
Our side streets are still (after two days without snow) miserable to maneuver. And the side streets that are somewhat drivable aren’t a result of plowing, but because they’ve had enough traffic on them, mashing the snow, to allow traffic to flow. The taxi driver told me most side streets he had driven are not plowed. I don’t know if it’s just me, but I have seen only two snow plows in four days. Come on, Mayor Rahm Emanuel, we pay enough taxes for all the other stuff; this should be a no-brainer.
