Erin Fitzgerald had her third straight five-goal game as the Northwestern women's lacrosse team used a five-goal run to beat Navy 15-12 Monday in Annapolis, Md.
The score was tied at 10 with 15 minutes to play when the Wildcats took control of a game in which neither team had led by more than two goals to that point.
"Navy came out and played a great game and it took us a little while to match that energy," Northwestern coach Kelly Amonte Hiller said. "I thought we did a good job of staying together and making the plays down the stretch when we needed to."
It was the first loss of the season for No. 20 Navy (6-1). The fourth-ranked Wildcats also are 6-1, with all but one game on the road.
Northwestern starts a four-game homestand Saturday against Harvard.
