An Elgin man was ordered held in lieu of $900,000 bail Sunday in connection to a July incident when he allegedly injured a woman while driving nearly 100 mph on a 40 mph road.

Noe Aguilera, 22, of the 600 block of Thorndale Drive, faces a felony aggravated reckless driving charge for the July 21 incident, when he was doing between 92 mph and 104 mph on a stretch of Summit Street near the intersection with Shady Oaks Drive in Elgin, according to court records and Assistant State' Attorney Megan Carlson.

Aguilera's 2006 Dodge Charger struck one vehicle, spun and struck two more, Carlson said.

His speed was between 80 mph and 99 mph when he struck the first car, according to Carlson.

One woman remains in the hospital, Carlson said, with injuries that include a ruptured spleen, a collapsed lung, a broken collarbone and a fractured hip, Carlson said Sunday in Cook County Bond Court.

One vehicle was struck so ferociously that its engine was thrown more than 200 feet, she said.
