The Cubs have quietly extended the contract of player personnel director Oneri Fleita, one of the key additions of fired general manager Jim Hendry.
Fleita, who has been lavishly praised by chairman Tom Ricketts, was given the new deal even though the rest of the new management team is not in place. He oversees all the minor league operations as well as international scouting.
