'Buyer & Cellar,' starring Michael Urie, to play Chicago

The Off-Broadway comedy "Buyer & Cellar," starring Michael Urie, is headed to Chicago. The limited engagement begins Apr. 29 at Broadway in Chicago's Broadway Playhouse and plays through June 8.

"Buyer & Cellar" is a critically acclaimed solo piece that imagines a struggling Los Angeles actor becoming fantastically allied with Barbra Streisand in the star's Malibu basement. It was seen in New York at the Rattlestick Playwrights Theatre and then at the large Barrow Street Playhouse.

Michael Urie is best known for his work on the ABC series "Ugly Betty." In an interview Thursday, producer Daryl Roth said that Urie would take his show to the Mark Taper Forum in Los Angeles after the Chicago engagement, with a few other large cities to follow. "I think this is a play other actors will do," Roth said. "But Michael is definitive and delicious."
