Douglas E. Kelley, 27, of the 1100 block of Lorlyn Circle, pleaded guilty to three counts of armed robbery in Kane County court, prosecutors said.
Police say he committed three stickups over a five-week period late last year, robbing sandwich stores in North Aurora and Batavia and a St. Charles motel. In all three incidents, he reportedly displayed a black handgun. The robberies netted him about $1,300, police said.
Authorities tied Kelley to the holdups after they arrested him for robbing an Elgin bank on Jan. 18.
He and another man reportedly brandished pellet guns and took $2,800 from the State Bank of Elgin.
Kelley was arrested a short time after the robbery, based on a description of his car, which he used as the getaway vehicle, according to the FBI.
