Four people were hospitalized following a one-car accident on the Dan Ryan Expressway early this morning on the South Side.

At 1:04 a.m., a single vehicle crashed on the northbound Ryan near 76th Street and veered onto an embankment, according to Illinois State Police District Chicago Trooper Ivan Bukaczyk.

Four adults were seriously hurt, Chicago Fire Department spokesman Joe Roccasalva said.

Two victims were taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County while two others were taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, Roccasalva said.

Bukaczyk, who put their conditions as non life-threatening, did not know immediately if any citations were written or what caused the wreck.
