Dahleen Glanton’s June 25 column about Paula Deen was excellent (“Paula Deen story dishes up some Southern food for thought”). Deen deserves all the ill will she is getting. I’ve had no positive feelings for Deen since learning she hid her diabetes while still advocating her extremely unhealthy cooking style.
She then went public with her disease only because she began to endorse a diabetes medicine. She never cared about using her disease as a learning experience to change her cooking style and help people become healthier. Paula Deen doesn't care about anyone except Paula Deen and her once-lucrative empire. She didn't learn from the diabetes diagnosis; she will never learn about what is offensive to other people. Deen is like an old fashioned good ole boy whose time has expired.
