Two people were injured, one critically, when the vehicle they were in struck a tree this morning in the Jefferson Park nighborhood on the Northwest Side, police said.

The crash happened at 1:20 a.m. when the car struck a tree at the intersection of Montrose and Mobile Avenues, said Chicago Police Department News Affairs Officer Amina Greer.

Details about the crash were not available but the driver was listed in critical condition and was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center.

In addition to the driver, a passenger was taken to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in serious condition and two other passengers refused medical treatment, Greer said.

Police are investigating the crash, Greer said.
