15. 'Madden,' concussions and the looming NFL player safety issue

UPDATE: I just received an email response from Cam Weber, GM of American Football for EA Sports. He writes: “In order to depict the seriousness of concussions, when a player is injured in a Madden NFL game, they will be tended to by the medical staff and then escorted off the field. If the injury is determined to be a possible concussion, the player will not be permitted back into the game. Madden NFL has been used to help teach the sport of football to several generations in regards to the rules and complexities of the sport. This is an opportunity to drive awareness to the serious nature of head injuries.”

  19. Revisiting Maryland's 2008 football recruiting class: The defense

Four years ago last month I covered my first Maryland football Signing Day for The Baltimore Sun. There wasn't a consensus opinion on the Terps' 2008 recruiting class -- Rivals.com ranked it the No. 38 group in the country, while Scout.com had it listed as the 52nd-best class nationally. So how did Maryland's 2008 group ultimately stack up? Today we’ll revisit my 2008 superlatives for defense and find out. Click here for a look at the offensive players.

The Alzheimer's Association's annual Memory Ball has drawn nine highly competitive dance couples, four well-known judges, including Maryland's first lady, and nearly 700 guests.
