Dunbar has approved a plan to name the school's basketball court after legendary coach Bob Wade, who guided the Poets' boys program to national prominence during his tenure, mostly in the 1980s. Wade, who is currently the coordinator of athletics for Baltimore City Public Schools, went 272-24 in his 11 seasons as Dunbar's coach. Included was the 1982-83 national championship in which the Poets finished 31-0 and featured future NBA stars Tyrone "Muggsy" Bogues, Reggie Williams and Reggie Lewis.
