Man robs Hanover hotel after asking about room rates

Anne Arundel police said a man robbed a Red Roof Inn Saturday in Hanover after telling a hotel clerk that the room rates were just too high. About 9 p.m. Saturday, a man entered the lobby of the Red Roof Inn in the 7300 block of Parkway Drive in Hanover and asked how much the nightly rates were. When the clerk answered, the man brandished a handgun and demanded money. The clerk gave the suspect money from a cash drawer, police said. The suspect fled on foot after finding a second cash drawer empty, police said. The clerk was not hurt in the robbery. Officers and K-9 units searched the area afterward but did not find the suspect.
