Protests prompt Harford liquor board to postpone decision on Coakley's Pub expansion

Havre de Grace business owner Margie Coakley's plans to expand Coakley's Pub hit another snag Wednesday when they were met with protests at a county liquor board meeting.

Coakley appeared before the Harford County Liquor Control Board Wednesday to get permission for the liquor store she wants to open in the former Vancherie's restaurant, on the corner of Union Avenue and St. John Street.

The packaged goods store would be around the corner from Coakley's 18-year-old restaurant, in a building Coakley also hopes to turn into an extension of the pub with outdoor dining, to be called Coakley's Cornerstone.
