Baltimore R&B group Dru Hill loses royalties lawsuit

Last Friday, members of the Baltimore R&B group Dru Hill lost a royalties lawsuit against the music publishers Sony/ATV and EMI after a New York federal judge dismissed with prejudice the group’s claims of breach of implied contract and declaratory relief.

The lawsuit — which was originally filed in 2015 on behalf of the members Sisqo (real name Mark Andrews), Woody (James Green) and Jazz (Larry Anthony Jr.) — alleged EMI paid $600,000 to 27 Red Music, a company hired by the group in 2005 to collect unpaid royalties from 1996-2005.
