The hazmat spill in the Fallston area on Friday may have leaked as much as 100 gallons of heating oil into a tributary of the Little Gunpowder Falls, the county's hazmat chief said Tuesday.
The Maryland Department of the Environment originally said the home heating-oil tank leaked 45 to 50 gallons.
The leak was reported to MDE at about 1 p.m. and was said to originate in the 400 block of Wilgis Road, near the intersection of Routes 1 and 152, MDE spokesman Jay Apperson said.
He said the 275-gallon tank had a small hole in the bottom.
