The Baltimore area's largest grocer is turning 80.
On Saturday, Giant Food will mark eight decades since N.H. Cohen and Sam Lehrman opened Washington's first supermarket, at Georgia Avenue and Park Road.
In honor of the milestone, the retailer is offering complimentary birthday cake to shoppers from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday at all 169 Giant stores in Maryland, Virginia, Delaware and Washington.
