Food Network's Food and Wine Festival

Food Network personality Guy Fieri is coming to Atlantic City. And he's hosting the "Cheese Steak Battle."

It's all part of the Food Network's Atlantic City Food and Wine Festival, which runs Friday through Sunday.

Fieri isn't the only one coming to town, however. It's the whole Food Network bunch: Pat and Gina Neely will be there. So will Sunny Anderson of "Cooking for Real" and Robert Irvine of "Kitchen Impossible.".

In addition to the TV guests, the highlight of the affair is set to be the Grand Market, which will feature more than 125 stations at which visitors can sample foods, wines and ales from renowned restaurants and brands.

Ticket prices vary, and some celebrity chef events are sold out. Admission to the Grand Market is $45. For more information, visit

Dolly Parton at Wolf Trap

Spend Sunday evening outdoors with Dolly Parton.

The Queen of Country will perform tunes from her five-decade catolog of country hits at Wolf Trap's Filene Center, a 7,000-seat amphitheater in Northern Virginia.

Wolf Trap is celebrating its 40th anniversary this season, and Parton is returning to the musical venue for the first time since 1992.

Tickets are $35 for the lawn and $60 for covered seating. Wolf Trap is at 1645 Trap Road in Vienna, Va. For more information, go to

West Virginia

Hot dog festival

If you're planning a visit to West Virginia and you're a fan of that all-American summer classic, the hot dog, then you're in luck.

This Saturday is the Day of the Dog, a celebration of hot dogs and other stuff. It's just a big West Virginian festival — but there is a cause. The festival benefits a local children's hospital.

There will be a hot dog-eating contest, along with car and motorcycle shows, music, all-you-can-eat hot dog sampling and, best of all, a root beer-chugging contest. Not that chugging root beer is any more difficult than chugging, say, water — aside from the burping spree that will inevitably follow. It's just that root beer seems a bit more West Virginian.

The festival is at Pullman Square and Third Avenue in Huntington, W. Va. For more information, go to
