Seven Anne Arundel County public schools have been named Maryland
Green Schools, and another 10 have received Green School recertification, the
Maryland Association for Environmental and Outdoor Education (MAEOE), school
The schools that have earned Green School status: Brooklyn Park,
Crofton Meadows, Jessup, Rippling Woods, and Waugh Chapel elementary schools;
Central Middle School; and Severna Park High School.
The Maryland Green School program was established 16 years ago
to recognize the state’s environmental educational efforts in such areas as
energy, waste and healthy school environment. Anne Arundel County has 75
schools and centers (more than 60 percent of its facilities), with Green School
status, officials said.
