  1. 'Hunger Games' countdown begins

With less than three weeks remaining before <a href=&quot;http://www.thehungergamesmovie.com/index2.html" target="_blank">"The Hunger Games"</a> movie is released, I thought it was time to join the 20-plus millions who have read books in <a href="http://www.suzannecollinsbooks.com/index.htm" target="_blank">Suzanne Collins' hit trilogy.</a> (That and the contunued urging of my teen-age niece, K.T.)

  5. 'Hunger Games' movie reviews

With so many tickets sold in advance of the release of &quot; The Hunger Games," reviews may be beside the point. With millions of readers already drawn into Suzanne Collins' trilogy about the post-apocalyptic world of Panem, the way has been paved for a successful release. Add to that a huge publicity storm -- I think the star, Jennifer Lawrence, has been on the cover of every magazine except "Muscle and Fitness" -- and you're looking at record ticket sales.

  9. Undead in Ellicott City

History and present day are interwoven along the train tracks of the old B&amp;O Railroad in Ellicott City. The ruins of Hell House, an old seminary, and the railroad itself are full of stories, and Columbia writer Jamie Wasserman has added one more tale to the list.

  11. Breaking Dawn movie reviews

I think it's a rip-off to break the book into two parts, but critics don't seem to mind. And I'm sure die-hard fans won't.
I never liked the idea of taking a book and splitting it into two movies -- as happened with "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" and is now happening with "Breaking Dawn" of the Twilight series. I've always said, if you can cram "Gone With the Wind"...

He's part of a clan of gorgeous, super-pallid high-schoolers adopted by the town's respected, super-pallid physician, Dr. Carlisle Cullen (Peter Facinelli).
