Most of the power outages that affected an estimated 80,000 homes, businesses and other Harford County buildings since Hurricane Irene came through the county last weekend were well on the way to elimination by late Thursday afternoon. There were, however, still about 4,400 Baltimore Gas & Electric Co. customers in Harford who did not have electric service as of 5:30 p.m. Thursday, according to the company's website. While that's a far cry from Sunday and even Monday and Tuesday, some people who were concerned they might go the whole week without power seemed destined to have their worst nightmares come true.
