Letter writer Terry Parker recently lauded Baltimore for having "some of the nicest, friendliest and most helpful people I have encountered" ("A charming visit to Charm City," Oct. 6). My own experience was the opposite. Late in the afternoon on Sept. 27 I was working as a volunteer at the Baltimore Book Festival, an event designed to attract tourists to Baltimore. When I returned to the parking lot, at 414 Light St., to drive home, however, I discovered that my car had been towed away. The cost to retrieve it was $330 and could only be paid in cash.
