What we ate at Chicago Food + Wine Festival

It had a damp beginning and threatening skies all afternoon, but the first day of the inaugural Chicago Food & Wine Fest, held in Lincoln Park, featured mild temperatures and plenty of room for patrons to sip, munch and observe.  The event did not sell out, which is typical for first efforts, and that translated into a very favorable ratio of top-name chefs to ticket holders. Lines were manageable to nonexistent, and if you felt like chatting up a highly regarded chef or two (or three), Chicago Food + Wine Festival was the place to be.
