I was glad to see Jesus has returned to my church. He had been gone for about six months. I'm speaking, of course, about the statue of Jesus outside the church, St. Ann's in Emmaus. Jesus is inside all the time, they tell us, at home in the tabernacle. And beyond that, he is said to be present wherever two or three gather in his name, which I suppose means everywhere. For Catholics, this belief is captured in concrete ways — in statues and paintings and icons, in the weight of the rosary in the palm and of the Host on the tongue.
