You editorialize that Reginald F. Lewis Museum Director Skipp Sanders' decision to exclude Helena Hicks from a panel discussion on the Civil Rights Movement of the 1960s "struck a sour note that ended up making the museum look unworthy of the mission entrusted to it" ("A (loud) dissenting voice," Oct. 9). That statement, however, overlooked the fact that Ms. Hicks herself had demanded that former Black Panther leader Eddie Conway be excluded from the panel — and that her actions struck an equally sour note. Ms. Hicks' claim that her "civil rights" had been violated rings hollow indeed. The arrogant attitude she displayed is unbecoming of...
