For more than three decades, the National Great Blacks in Wax Museum has been one of the underappreciated cultural gems of Baltimore. Located in an unprepossessing building on East North Avenue, the institution that calls itself "the museum with a message" attracts some 150,000 visitors a year from all over the world to marvel at its vividly rendered figures and detailed historical scenes.
