  17. Red Rooster welcomes lovable hooligans

    Insomniac Folklore promises to bring to the Red Rooster Tuesday night a “heartfelt and theatrical stomp-along dance party which may very well leave you in tears.” According to the band's website, “The members of Insomniac Folklore are a band of lovable hooligans that would probably be considered offensive, if only they weren't so darned cute.” The musicians, based in Portland, Ore., refer to their music as tantrum folk, which is a combination of 1960s folk-rock, '70s punk, indie-rock and vaudeville. Tyler Hentschel is the mainstay of the band, which creates “a vibrant whirlwind of musical tones using drums, accordion, violin, tambourine, guitar, bass, intense vocals and occasionally ironing board.” The music starts at 7 p.m.
