9. 'Dancing at Lughnasa' next from Mad Cow Theatre

WHAT: Imminent changes are unavoidable for five sisters in "Dancing at Lughnasa," the Tony award-winning play by Brian Friel. Set in 1936, the play examines a family living together on a rural farm in Ballybeg, Ireland. The Mundy sisters are challenged when ancient tribal customs and religious beliefs clash during preparations for the autumn harvest, "Lughnasa" being a harvest festival in Celtic folklore. While the world around them advances technologically, the sisters find the strength to continue in their laughter, hope and family traditions. The Mad Cow Theatre production, which opens Friday, Feb. 3, features Robin Olson, Sara Catherine Barnes, Bobbie Bell, Brian Brightman and Marion Marsh in the cast. Katrina Ploof is directing.
