Wettlaufer wins festival 5K race for second straight year

Cara Wettlaufer won the women's 5K race of the Baltimore Running Festival Oct. 15. The 28-year-old C. Milton Wright alumna led a field of 1,929 women to the finish line in 19:14, winning by 6 seconds. She was one of only two repeat winners of the festival, which drew a record 25,000 entries. Jesse Jaeger of Kingsville finished third in the men's 5K race, clocking 16:19 behind winner Tristam Thomas (15:34). Bob Becker of White Hall won the men's 60-64 age group in 20:23. The largest of the four races of the festival was the CareFirst Blue Cross Blue Shield Half Marathon, with 9,166 finishers.
