Take Lehigh Street into Emmaus and continue until 10th Street -- Pizza Hut at the corner -- where you'll turn left. At the stop sign, make a right onto Pennsylvania Avenue and follow through the sharp left turn all the way out as it turns into Vera Cruz Road and hits a stop sign.
Turn left onto East Main Road, and just after you cross railroad tracks, look to your left for a fine display at 2973 East Main. Bear left as the road forks and then turn left onto Mountain Drive/Fifth Street, where a sign directs you to Emmaus. At the bottom of the hill, turn right on Broad and left on Fourth, continuing across Chestnut/Main Street. N. Fourth merges into N. Third, but keep going until you hit Seem, where you'll turn left. Turn left on N. Fifth as you admire the outstanding 527 N. Fifth on the corner. Turn right on Elm, left on Sixth and right on Main/Chestnut.
Travel all the way through town, well past Cedar Crest, and bear right onto Buckeye Road. When you hit Route 100/Main Street in Macungie, turn right. Go past Wawa and turn right on Willow, then make your third right (the sign is hidden by a tree) onto Mulberry. Turn left on Magnolia Circle and prepare to be dazzled by 2982, populated with a new crew of delightful cutout characters. You'll probably meet Santa, too.
Return to Willow, where you'll turn right, turn right again on Mill Street Spur, then left as Willow resumes. When you hit Lower Macungie Road, turn right. Turn left on Brookside, then left onto Townsquare and left on Hamlet Drive. The display at 1690 Hamlet is a tribute to the late Lisa Prelovsky, whom I wrote about last year. Turn right on Lamplighter, and when you hit East Texas Road, turn right. Cross over Brookside and turn left on Promise Lane. I still believe the tree at 1445 Promise Lane is the best this side of Rockefeller Center.
Return to East Texas and turn left. Before you reach Kressler, look left for a nice display at 4067. Turn left at Kressler and look to your right at the top of the hill for the dazzling 1075. Before you reach Hamilton, turn left on Hedgerow and follow to 4858 on your left.
Get out to Hamilton and go left, away from Allentown. Turn right at the Krocks light, then left at the second stop sign onto Schantz. Turn right on Blue Barn and make your first left onto Hemlock, then left onto Maple Circle. The cul-de-sac there, highlighted at 38 and 26, is absolutely spectacular. Look for Elvis on the door at 38; if the music's turned on, you'll hear him crooning Christmas songs.
Go back to Schantz, turn right, and then make your next left at Lone Lane. Past Fugazzotto, turn left on Daniel, then left on Hopewell to see 342 and the whole neighborhood.
Return to Schantz, turn left, then left at the first light by the Sunset Grille. Left at Iroquois -- just before the strip mall -- and right on Susquehanna and left onto Seneca Trail to see 6714*, home of the potato chip cookie. How about that wreath?
If you return to Blue Barn and head north, you'll hit Huckleberry and Route 309 on the way to Thompson and Christmas Lane.
