A farm and ag business management specialist will be the featured speaker Dec. 2-7 at GrowingOn 2011, a five-city seminar that focuses on marketing strategies, outlook and crop insurance.
The event, sponsored by South Dakota Corn Growers Association and Farm Credit Services of America, will be presented in Sioux Falls, Yankton, Watertown, Huron and Mitchell.
Steven D. Johnson of Iowa State University Extension will use cash-grain case studies to help producers learn more about the relationship between farm financials, crop insurance and grain marketing plans. He'll offer advice on what crop marketing tools will help with decision making, and discuss pricing strategies to manage and protect margins.
The event also will include a presentation by crop insurance specialists about changes in crop insurance coverage in 2011 and how they will affect farm operations.
