ACT calls Tuesdays with Morrie a touching, moving and humorous look at a true-life story between men of two generations and important life lessons.
Albom, who co-authored the play, based the show on his book of the same name. It's an autobiographical story of an accomplished journalist, Mitch, who is driven solely by his career, and Morrie Schwartz, his former college professor. Sixteen years after college, Mitch sees Morrie's appearance on a TV program and learns his former professor is battling Lou Gehrig's Disease. Mitch makes contact with Morrie and what is to be a simple one-time visit turns into a weekly pilgrimage and Mitch's continued relationship with his old professor and his continuing education in the meaning of life.
I know many people are familiar with Mitch Albom's book and encourage everyone to experience the show on stage, director James L. Walker said in a news release. The play has a lot of humor as it tells a touching story of the relationship between these two men. I'm so pleased to be working with the talents of Rory King and Steve Balsarini as Morrie and Mitch.
