SPORTS ROUNDUP: Maranatha High baseball moves into first-place tie

Maranatha 6, Village Christian 2: Daniel Rasmussen finished with three hits Friday to lead the visiting Minutemen to an Olympic League victory. Maranatha starting pitcher Walter Harris went five innings and allowed one earned run to get the win for the Minutemen (10-9-1, 5-3 in league).

With the victory, the Minutemen moved into a first-place tie with Whittier Christian (14-9, 5-3).

Marshall Fundamental 11, Archer School 1 (five innings): The Eagles remain in second place in the Alpha League after a convincing league home victory Friday afternoon.

Marshall (6-9, 3-2) is tied with Paraclete (10-7, 3-2) as both are behind front-running Downey Calvary Chapel (16-4, 5-0).

Pitcher Amy Zeronian led the charge Friday, allowing one earned run, while going two for three at the dish with a triple, homer, two RBI and two runs scored.

Breanna Howard was also three for three with two solo homers, while Miranda Bielski was two for three with a homer and two runs scored.

Flintridge Prep 3, Pasadena Poly 0: The Panthers dropped their third match this week, this time 36-34, 25-8, 25-15 on Friday afternoon in Prep League play.

Senior middle hitter Carl Lehman finished with 10 kills for Poly (2-13, 1-6), while Johnny Franks added four blocks and Alex Smith totaled eight digs.

Whittier Christian 235, Maranatha 256: Zach Schrademeier carded a five-over-par 41 on Thursday for Maranatha in an Olympic League match at Brookside Golf Course No. 2.
