Man arrested on suspicion of molesting 4-year-old

Euclid

Huntington Beach police arrested a man Monday on suspicion of molesting a 4-year-old relative while babysitting.

Gordon Ray Bodkin, 45, was arrested about 4:30 p.m. after a resident called and reported seeing him walking with another adult inside an apartment complex in the 16100 block of Sher Lane, Lt. Russell Reinhart wrote in an email Monday evening. Police had put out a news release earlier in the day asking for the public's help in finding Bodkin, who had last been seen about 6:30 p.m. Aug. 9.

According to the release, Bodkin was babysitting that evening when one of the child's parents came home from work an hour early. Bodkin, who was wearing nothing but a T-shirt, grabbed his pants from the floor and fled the apartment, according to the release.

Bodkin was also wanted for a parole violation and was arrested in January on suspicion of DUI in Huntington Beach. He was booked at the Huntington Beach City Jail without bail.
