Newport Harbor High senior middle blocker Carolyn Bockrath and junior libero Sammie Yeager each made the All-Sunset League first team in girls' volleyball.
After a 3-12 start to the season, Bockrath and Yeager keyed Newport Harbor's revival. The Sailors (11-21, 6-4 in league) went on to place third in league and advance to the CIF Southern Section Division 1AA playoffs, the 28th postseason appearance in as many years under Coach Dan Glenn.
Bockrath finished with 466 kills and a .475 hitting percentage. She had 66 blocks and 32 service aces.
Yeager produced 322 digs and 17 aces.
Newport Harbor junior outside hitter Gabby Shelley and junior opposite Logan Grove both made the second team.
Los Alamitos' Crissy Jones earned the All-Sunset League MVP award.
